The Winery at Seven Springs Farm is located just outside of Maynardville, TN on State Highway 61. Opened in 2015, The Winery at Seven Springs Farm is the first winery to be established in Maynardville, an area rich in American history. "Nicole, the Master Winemaker, was also a fabulous sommelier, educating myself and my husband, as well as a couple of other guests on our recent visit." Mary, NJ. A typical comment about the winemaker, one of the few winemakers in Tennessee with a degree in enology. Only award winning wines are found here, made by master winemakers Nicole Riddle and Michael Coombs, with top honors the norm. State Highway 61 was one of the many moonshine smuggling routes referred to as “Thunder Road.” This route, from Harlan, Kentucky, to Knoxville, Tennessee, was a frequent night time route traveled by illegal whiskey haulers. But to the men who traveled the route, it was much more than legend. It was the road to freedom from economic despair. The legacy of Prohibition would have us believe that everyone who made fermented or distilled spirits in our Great Valley was a backwoods moonshiner on the run from the law. And while that is part of our more recent history, if you take a step further back in time you will find distilling as a respected profession. Such is the case for Andrew Jackson “Jacker” Wood of Union County, Tennessee, whose distillery once stood on the land now occupied by The Winery at Seven Springs Farm. In addition to award winning wines, the farm store features many local products raised on site including beef and seasonal vegetables.

The Winery at Seven Springs Farm is located just outside of Maynardville TN (Union County) on Seven Springs Farm, a 370-acre working family farm, purchased by Rick and Donna Riddle in 2004.  In 2015, The Winery at Seven Springs Farm, run by their…

“Driving through your wrought iron gates was like entering the Land of Oz. What a beautiful estate winery, and the view is magnificent!" Jim and Mary, Sharps Chapel, TN. A typical comment by those visiting this estate vineyard and winery. The Wines of Spout Spring Estates are made by Chuck Belt, proprietor and winemaker, from 100% fruit grown on the Grainger County farm. These wines are expressive of the East Tennessee Climate and the Micro climate of the vineyard which is well placed for growing Old World style wines.

To describe your last stop on this trip, I provide this review from Angela, Mount Juliet, Tennessee. “My guy and I visited this winery today, which is a bit off of the beaten path; however, it is well worth your time! We had a lovely visit with Laura (owner) and she was very informative and personable. We did a wine tasting which was awesome (you even get to keep your really cool wine glass!)!. Laura is a local who decided to stay in the area, along with her husband (the wine maker) and open up this very cozy winery. The wine was much more than I expected for a smaller winery. My fav was the Seyval Blanc, which was a dry white wine which i loved! I will definitely go back for more! The prices were very reasonable and I also purchased some cool wine gifts. I reside in Nashville, and have been to many wineries, but will have to admit, this was one of my favorites! I would recommend that anyone who is even close to this winery take the time to check it out, I promise you will not be disappointed!!! Salute Goodwater Winery!!! ” Owners Gene and Laura Poland are all-in, in a seriously fun way when it comes to wine. Gene, the winemaker, who holds a degree in physics and speaks five languages, is not your typical geek. He loves to make you laugh and you’ll never know what to expect each time you visit. Even his lab will make you smile — with colorful strobe lights flashing as you peer in to see his mad scientist equipment — tools to hand craft the dry wines they both love. Laura provides balance with her sense of style and fabulous culinary skills. This young, energetic couple has plans. Big plans. For starters, their 30-acre vineyard is the largest on the Great Valley Wine Trail. Goodwater Vineyards is a family winery in the truest sense.

Goodwater Vineyards is a family owned and operated vineyard/winery located in the foothills of the majestic Smoky Mountains.

Quality is first and foremost at Goodwater Winery, so with great care grapes are harvested by hand from the 30…
