Fishing is also a popular past time at the marina. When you walk into the dock store you can see trophy size fish on the wall that have been caught by anglers from Hickory Star. Fishing is year round and, depending on what time of the year you come, is what species are biting the best. There are guides that go out of the marina daily for rockfish and bass. You can also fish off the dock where during the summer most of the time you can see parents teaching their children the finer points of fishing. At night, many local residents will keep their dock lights on for anglers to night fish around.
