Tinsley Bible Drug Store Co.

Since 1911, Tinsley Bible Drug Store has been both a local amenity and hot-spot for the past one hundred years. Founded by Dr. P. A. Tinsley and his pharmacist nephew, Walter Tinsley, the store was originally opened as a small pharmacy in downtown Dandridge. One hundred years later, Tinsley Bible has seen many changes, yet still remains almost intact to its original state. In 1942, the business had picked up so much that an expansion was necessary.

By purchasing the store next door, Tinsley Bible was able to add the soda fountain which has been a popular luncheon destination ever since. If visiting the store, be sure to check out the support columns that divide the space to get a good idea of what the size of the original store was once like!

When visiting the soda fountain, one will notice the antique diner setting and the wonderful southern hospitality. With daily specials like homemade soup beans and cornbread, every item on the menu gives visitors a sense of eating home cooked meals. Tinsley Bible's soda fountain has something for everyone. Thinking low-carb? Try the hamburger steak with grilled onions, and sliced tomatoes! And for kids, there is always the go-to grilled cheese sandwich! And for breakfast, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and hot coffee are on the menu! However, the local favorite, the Bible Burger, has remained a crowd pleaser for many years. A huge burger grilled to perfection, the Bible Burger packs a punch with its amazing flavor, and leaves customers with a smile on their faces.

Tinsley Bible has a multitude of old fashioned drinks as well. These include malts, Chocolate Sodas, and Frosty Peppers to name a few. Of course it wouldn't be a southern diner or restaurant if the soda fountain didn't include homemade sweet tea! Stop in and have a cold glass of sweet tea—it will not disappoint. Their renowned milkshakes are nothing short of incredible. In fact, many would say that it wouldn't be a trip to Tinsley Bible if a milkshake was not on the agenda.

Located in Historic Downtown Dandridge, Tinsley Bible Drug Store has so much to offer; their food is just one of their crowning glories. From malts and milkshakes, to Bible Burgers and soup beans, Tinsley Bible Drug Store will leave customers with a full stomach and a sense of what it's really like to live in such a beautiful, close knit community in east Tennessee.
