Turtletown Creek flows 20 to 30 feet over a large ledge in two separate sections.  The falls are located within the Cherokee National Forest.  Because of the terrain it is difficult to get an unobstructed view.

Hiking and photography.

Seasons Accessible

Year round with the exception being after heavy snowfalls.

How to Get There

Access for the trail head to the falls is not well marked from the main road.

Directions to Forest Trail 185, Turtletown Falls Trail:

Coming From South on HWY 68 – From Hwy 64 intersection in Ducktown‐travel ~12 miles north on Hwy 68. Turn Left on Old Farner Road (County Rd 2317) for ~1 mile.  Turn right on Apalachia Tunnel Rd (NFSR 1166).  Trailhead will be ~1.25 miles at the end of the road.

Coming from the North on HWY 68 –After crossing the Hiwassee River, drive ~ 1.5 miles and turn right on Old Farner Road (County Rd 2317) for ~1 mile.  Turn right on Apalachia Tunnel Rd (NFSR 1166).  Trailhead will be ~1.25 miles at the end of the road.

For a bonus waterfall, hike further down stream to see the lower falls before leaving.

 ADA Accessibility Notes

No access.  Moderate hike along a winding trail and because it is located in the National Forest downed trees across sections of the trail are common.

No restrictions on pets.
