Belmont Historic Hotel

Strolling into the Belmont Historic Hotel is to take a step back in time. One of the oldest hotels in the Great State of Mississippi, the Belmont has been in operation since 1924. With a gracious lobby, wide stairs and hallways, original tin ceilings, hardwood floors and 15 cozy rooms (4 ground floor and 11 upstairs),  the Coker family enjoys welcoming visitors to Belmont and Northeast Mississippi.

Located by the railroad, the Belmont once provided accommodations for salesmen and folks coming to town to visit family and friends. In those days, dining room attire was dresses for ladies and suits and ties for gentlemen. When the Great Depression hit in 1929, the owners were hard pressed to keep the hotel’s doors open, but they persevered and eventually business boomed once again. As war clouds gathered in the 1940s, the legends inside the Belmont grew. Stories of secret military meetings at the hotel were rampant and continue to circulate today.

Guests will find that Natalie Coker, Marilyn and Jenny Lynn, three generations of gracious Southern women are happy to share their hotel's history, a good cup of coffee and hospitality galore.

Locally or Family Owned Business Notes

Great things happen when three generations of Southern women get together. Natalie Coker’s dream of owning the Belmont Historic Hotel was spurred on by her mother, Marilyn and Natalie’s daughter, Jenny Lynn.

When owners Ron and Pat Deaton were ready to retire from 20-years in the hotel business, Natalie, a native of Belmont knew that a once in a lifetime opportunity was coming into view. She and her husband, Jason decided to take the plunge. With the help of Marilyn, Jenny Lynn, Natalie’s three siblings and a host of friends and family, the hotel has been renovated and is as gorgeous as the day it opened in 1924.

“We never missed a reservation nor an event,” said Natalie. “We just kept right on entertaining our wonderful guests, hosting events and renovating a little at a time. Our family is loving running this incredible piece of history."

What is Natalie's favorite thing about the hotel business? "You never know who is going to walk in that lobby door!”
