The aroma of slow-cooked barbeque fills the air over Hartselle the last weekend in July when barbeque connoisseurs gather together for a cook-off. One of Hartselle’s most anticipated annual events, the Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-off invites professional and amateur grill masters to show off their barbeque expertise as festival goers experience the excitement of a cook-off.
The Cotton Pickin’ BBQ Cook-off invites competitive and backyard pitmasters to show off their barbeque expertise as festivalgoers experience the excitement of a cook-off. The annual event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and is a member of the Alabama Barbeque Association. The event attracts competitive chefs and backyard teams from across the South who will compete for prize money and is the last opportunity to obtain points for the coveted Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue.
Make sure to arrive at the festival hungry as the event offers plenty of food vendors and food trucks throughout the event site and there will be a beer garden for those 21 years and older. Entertainment consists of a kid’s zone play area, music provided by Bishop Black and Rolling Smoke Nation and a cornhole tournament with cash prizes. Entry fee is $50 per team. The festival will take place at 500 Nanceford Road Southwest in Hartselle. This venue also offers ball fields, playgrounds, an aquatic center and a disc golf course for everyone to enjoy.
