Cowford Landing

Located on the beautiful Tennessee River, Cowford Landing at Round Island Recreational Area offers well-groomed and shaded campsites in a serene setting.  Many of the 52 campsites are pull-through, graveled and level with water, sewer and 30/50 amp electric.  Thirty of the sites are located on the river.  Amenities include swimming, fishing and boating with a sandy beach area and boat launches with a floating pier.  The  state-of-the-art private entry climate controlled bathhouse/laundry room is the ultimate in handicapped-accessible facilities.

Round Island Recreational Area is part of the North Alabama Birding Trail, popular among birding enthusiasts and nature lovers from all across the country.  The Round Island Recreation Area provides access to the north side of the Tennessee River and an excellent vantage point for viewing winter waterfowl as well as cormorants, loons, and grebes.  In the winter months, songbirds such as Red-breasted Nuthatches and numerous kinglets can be viewed in the pine woodland surrounding the camping area.   During summer, visitors will want to explore the river and its numerous inhabitants via a canoe or along the shoreline under one of the many trees.
