The story of Keener United Methodist Church begins in the early 1900s when Jim and Mary Overstreet, together on horse and buggy, rode through the town to raise money for the construction of the church. With the church only being one room the children would attend the neighbors house for Sunday School. The church was closed in 2014; however, it is still open to the public and is located at 6025 U.S. Highway 11 N in Attalla, Alabama. For more information, call 256.538.3315.
Keener United Methodist Church is part of the North Alabama Hallelujah Trail of Sacred Places, a driving tour of 32 churches that are at least 100 years old, stand on their original sites, still hold services and are accessible to the public.
