Museum of Scott County

The Museum of Scott County serves as a testament to what high school students can do both inside and outside the classroom.  Situated on the beautiful campus of Scott High School, the museum has grown to include over thirteen buildings since its founding.  Hand-built and curated by high school students, the museum began as a way to bring students and their community together.

The museum was founded in 2001 and is the only museum of its kind in the entire country.  The museum buildings were built entirely by the students of Scott High School.  The complex includes the Museum of Scott County, which traces the history of the area from prehistoric times to WWII.  The USS Tennessee Battleship Remembrance Museum is dedicated to the Battleship USS Tennessee which was one of the most decorated battleships of WWII.  A pioneer village that includes historic structures related to life in Appalachia.  A state of the art children’s museum finishes off the project and provides a place for children to play and learn.

Visitors are awestruck when they discover what the students of Scott High School have accomplished.
