The Piney Grove Campground on Bay Springs Lake is operated by The Corps of Engineers from March 1 to November 30. The following excerpt is from the campground brochure:
Piney Grove Campground contains 139 campsites, each with a fire-grill, picnic table, lantern post, water spigot and electrical hookup. The campground also offers a boat ramp, 2 playgrounds, 2 multi-use game courts, a picnic shelter, 3 restrooms with showers, a laundry building, a nearby beach and an amphitheater for weekend campfire programs. A trailer dump station and fish cleaning station have been provided for your convenience.
The restrooms and several of the campsites are handicapped-accessible. A group camping area, which can be reserved for large groups, is also available. To reserve 10 or more campsites, call Bay Springs Resource Office two weeks in advance of the reservation date (662) 454-9346 .
All campsites are otherwise available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
For those of you who really want to get back to nature there is a Piney Grove Primitive Campground. Ten campsites with impact pads, picnic tables and grills are available at no charge. Only accessible by boat, there are no water or electrical hookups. Title 36 rules do apply.
All of that said, my experience is that this is one of the nicest campgrounds around for family visits. Well maintained, visually interesting, good fishing, wildlife and security.
