Secret City Festival

Celebrating the history and heritage of the city of Oak Ridge and its role in the Manhattan Project, the Secret City Festival happens every year in June. Thousands of people visit the festival for arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles, tours of historic Manhattan Project facilities, concerts featuring national acts, and loads of free kids activities. The festival has been named Festival of the Year by the Southeast Tourism Society, a top 100 event by the American Bus Association, and has won more than 25 regional, national, and international awards.

A special Children’s Festival includes free games and activities for kids, including an inflatable slide, petting zoo, arts and crafts, magicians, music, and more. An area for Youth will feature games, inflatables, rock climbing, and more.  A special area for Toddlers is also available with activities geared toward the youngest festival-goers.

Historic displays explain the fascinating history of the area. Visitors can tour original Manhattan Project sites, including the Graphite Reactor and the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Arts and crafts vendors, antiques dealers, food vendors, and exhibitors can be found scattered around the festival grounds.

Music and entertainment from local, regional, and nationally acclaimed artists goes on all day with special headliners taking stage around 7 p.m. Previous headliners include The Oak Ridge Boys, Survivor, Rick Springfield, The Village People, The Charlie Daniels Band, Chubby Checker, Blood, Sweat and Tears, and more.
