Seven Islands Wildlife Refuge is a 360 acre sanctuary open to the public for hiking, observation, education, and other low impact uses. The site is adjacent to the French Broad River and supports an impressive diversity of wildlife species,
The refuge is a demonstration area for land use and habitat managment techniques. Seven Islands is a research site for schools, groups, and universities. Several research projects are currently underway by the University of Tennesse and the Tennessee Ornithological Society.
Seven Islands is managed by a joint agreement between Knox County Parks and Recreation and Legacy Parks Foundation. A land manager is on site.
