The Tennessee River Valley is a complex, integrated system of water and land. The rivers, streams and reservoirs supply community drinking water; support economic opportunities such as freight delivery and water for manufacturing; provide endless recreational activities; are a source of water for agriculture and local farmers; produce electricity for the people of the Valley; and are a critical habitat for native plants and animals.
The Tennessee Valley Authority has been a leading steward of the watershed for over 80 years. Their leadership, along with the grass root organizations engaged with caring for the river, have led to stronger collaborations with an end goal of preserving the River Valley for future generations.
