Tishomingo State Park

Nestled in the northeast corner of Mississippi, Tishomingo State Park offers visitors a park steeped in history and geological beauty not found anywhere else in Mississippi.  Massive rock formations, mossy boulders and crevices found along the creek banks and shadowed ridges.  The Park was named for Chief Tishomingo, the leader of the Chickasaw Nation.  Archeological excavations show that native people populated this area dating back to 7000 BC.

The beauty, amenities, and history of this Park has resulted in a large number of accolades including Reserve America’s “Top 100 Family Campgrounds”, “Top 25 Canoeing Spots” Top 25 Educational and Historic Facilities “Top 50 Hiking Trails.”  “Top 25 Kid Friendly Parks” and has been included  on “Top 25 Birdwatching Spots,” “Top 25 Picnic Areas,” and “Top 25 Tours & Events” lists.

The Natchez Trace Parkway bisects the park.
