Recreational Opportunities

Blue Ridge Lake is the lower end of the 13.8-mile Toccoa River Canoe Trail, an easy float with a few small rapids. While floating downriver, rafters pass under the longest suspension bridge (270 feet long) east of the Mississippi River.

The canoe and kayak launch site below the dam gives non-motorized boaters access to the Toccoa River. The river is noted among anglers for its sunfish, trout and bass. When water is released from Blue Ridge Dam to generate electricity, the river becomes a Class I-II float through the north Georgia hills. There is an accessible picnic table with a grill next to the launch site.
