Freedom Isn’t Free
Veterans Rockin’ on the River is an annual festival held on Armed Forces Day (the 3rd Saturday in May) each year. Its purpose is to recognize the Military, our Veterans and their families both local and from throughout the mid south. We will come together as a community to honor and pay tribute for the sacrifices of our service members and their families with a day of recognition and fun activities.
The 2018 Festival will be held on Saturday, May 19th at Pickwick Pines Resort in Iuka, MS. from 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Opening ceremonies will begin at 10:00 am with a Veterans parade, tribute, and ceremony honoring all branches of the Military. We will cover over 200 years of Military history with Color Guards from each era. The Wounded Warriors of Mississippi and Gold Star families will also be recognized.
Congressman Trent Kelly, Representing the first district of Mississippi, will be our guest speaker. Congressman Kelly has spent 32 years in the Army Mississippi National Guard as a Combat Engineer and is presently serving as a Brigadier General. In Congress, he serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, House Small Business Committee and the House Committee on Armed Services.
There will be a wide variety of vendors. We will have everything from Military displays, World War II vehicles, Militaria, and relics to outdoor, recreation, leisure, boats ATV’s, and motorhomes. Plus everything to get your summer started. Wear your Red, White, and Blue and enjoy a day of entertainment, activities, food vendors and lots of surprises.
Don’t miss out on the chance to say Thank You to those who have given so much in order to defend this country and maintain our freedom. Be sure to invite Veterans and Military.
